Bandha

Energy locks that redirect and contain Prana within the body.

Bandhas are muscular "locks" used during Pranayama and meditation to redirect and contain the flow of Prana in specific areas of the body. The three primary Bandhas are: Mula Bandha (root lock — perineum contraction), Uddiyana Bandha (abdominal lock — drawing the abdomen inward and upward), and Jalandhara Bandha (throat lock — chin to chest). When all three are engaged simultaneously, it is called Maha Bandha. Bandhas intensify the effects of Pranayama and are essential in advanced Pranavidya practice.
