Ama
Metabolic toxins formed from undigested food — the root cause of most diseases.
Ama refers to the toxic residue produced when Agni (digestive fire) is too weak to completely process food. This undigested material is sticky, heavy, and foul-smelling — it accumulates in the GI tract and eventually spreads to other tissues, blocking channels (Srotas) and creating the foundation for disease. According to the Rishis, eliminating Ama through proper diet, fasting, Shodhan Kriyas, and strengthening Agni is the first step in treating most conditions.
