Vata

The Dosha of movement — governs all motion in the body and mind.

Vata is one of the three fundamental Doshas (bio-energies) in Ayurveda, composed of Air (Vayu) and Space (Akasha) elements. It governs all movement in the body — from the blinking of the eyes to the movement of thoughts. Vata's qualities are dry, light, cold, rough, subtle, and mobile. When balanced, Vata promotes creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm. When imbalanced, it leads to anxiety, insomnia, dry skin, constipation, and joint pain.
